Dead fish eyes

IMG_3363

I really like collecting eyes that have lost their shine, or what you might call dead fish eyes. I've always found this to be a very captivating gaze. It usually appears after moments of shock and worry. So it gives me a sense of comfort. That's why I've always enjoyed collecting such images.

If you search for "suicide" on booru websites, you'll find that many of the expressions in the pictures capture that moment: either a smile of relief or a peaceful expression. Of course, I know that this is not a continuous action in itself. But what I've always liked is the result that comes after that moment. In broader terms, death.

What is the opposite of death? Life. I dislike Live2D. I can't stand seeing paper dolls come to life (except maybe in animation, but I don't really enjoy watching animation either). I only like still artworks. That's also one of the reasons why I enjoy visual novels. It seems like people nowadays are starting to dislike this kind of storytelling, thinking that more action and more dynamics are always better. Although I don't like that.

The stillness of death gives me a great sense of security. Because the ending has already been determined. In medias res is always very terrifying and full of uncertainty. Of course, you can argue that it can be both good and bad, but personally, I really don't like it.

But it's different with dolls. As for why exactly, it's hard for me to explain. I suppose there's a big difference between knowing that a living thing has come to a standstill and something that can be still in itself.

Death is not always terrifying either. The jokes about dancing at the grave, professional teams, I actually have a lot of respect for their attitude towards death. Whether death is good or bad, it should be up to the person who can't say anything more. How contradictory.

"You can't die until you die. That's what it means to be alive."
"Live until the end, and die early, please."

I'm really sorry for dumping so much garbage on the server. From now on, I'll translate something and pour it out here.
